Grand to be back here, lads. Happy New Year to everyone still out there who remembers The Rattlin' Bog.
I spent New Year's Eve at a session in Ennis — just like old times. Small crowd this year, but a GOOD crowd, if you know what I mean. We sang the usual suspects, and somewhere around half eleven, someone called for "The Rattlin' Bog" and... well.
I can't quite explain it. It was just a song. Just a session. But when we got to midnight and everyone was singing the verses together, something CLICKED. I felt it in my chest, you know? Like the song had been waiting for me to remember it.
So I'm making a resolution. I'm keeping this site going. Not because I'm chasing anything — God knows I'm not eighteen anymore. But because something's still here. Something's alive about it. You feel it?
I don't know what shape it'll take yet. Maybe I'll dust off some old posts, get some thoughts written down properly. Maybe I'll just ramble about sessions and music and that. But I'm not letting the Bog go quiet again.
Twenty-four years is a long time to be away from something. Maybe it's time to come home.
Slan go foill,
