The hit counter on this site is at 1.2 MILLION.

I noticed it last week when I was updating something, and I thought, "That can't be right. Must be a glitch." But I checked it this morning and it's at 1,247,300 now. Nearly a quarter million MORE hits in a week.

I haven't done ANYTHING to promote this site. I've been sitting in my house in Ennis, posting about TikTok and sessions and my bodhrán. I haven't mentioned the website to anyone except in emails. I haven't tweeted about it (I still don't have Twitter, by the way, don't plan to start), I haven't posted it anywhere.

But somehow people are finding it.

Fiona said I should "check my analytics" and I said "My WHAT?" Apparently this site doesn't have analytics. It's just a hit counter from 2002 that I never bothered to update. So I don't even KNOW where the traffic is coming from. America? Australia? Japan? No clue.

One of the emails I got yesterday said something about "great SEO" and I had to Google what that was. Search Engine Optimization? I don't understand. I haven't done anything to optimize anything. The site looks the same as it did in 2002, more or less.

Could it be TikTok? Are people clicking through from those videos to come here? Maybe. I don't have TikTok linked to anything, but maybe someone mentioned the site in a comment?

Or maybe the song's just... bigger than I thought. Maybe people searching for "Rattlin Bog lyrics" or "Rattlin Bog meaning" are hitting this page by accident and it just counts as a hit anyway.

I don't know. But I know someone out there is looking. And that's a strange feeling after twenty-four years.

Slan go foill,

BogLord2002
